Teach For America’s LGBTQ Education Summits

The fight for educational equity must come to the forefront of LGBTQ advocacy. Teach For America is committed to safety, fairness and dignity for all students as a measure of the excellent education they deserve. Teach For America’s LGBTQ Education Summits seek to bring together LGBTQ and Allied Corps members, alumni, educators, community members and partners, as well as students from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds to build connections with each other and the broader LGBTQ community. Each summit will provide leadership development that pivots around intersectionality and educational equity. Attendees of the summits will experience multi-faceted perspectives of the challenges and opportunities of leading with an intersectional focus in this movement. They will feel empowered and equipped to advocate for LGBTQ inclusiveness in their schools and communities to ensure that all students, educators and families have the opportunities and protections they deserve.

By Community TFA desires the broad base of educators and educational advocates inside and beyond the TFA network. We understand that the fight for LGBTQ educational equity for students K-12 and the educators that serve them will necessitate a brave community of leaders working together to ensure that people understand we still have a ways to go to ensure equity and inclusiveness as LGBTQ people. As a former youth director at a CBO, a public health advocate, and now someone leading the LGBTQ Community Initiative at TFA, I thank you for your continued support.
