This year the Brothers United Network received an award from the Board of Memphis Black Pride during their 20th year anniversary. During the ceremony, Brothers United Network inducted seven new Young Brothers United Memphis Core Group Members into our statewide initiative. This rights of passage activity included a variety of community stakeholders, advocates and entertainment legends. Each of the elders stood behind the new YBU member and presented them with a metal as each of them acknowledged their promise to uphold the I AM ONE PLEDGE that was developed for our youth and young adult MSM programming and outreach efforts. It was an emotional experience for the elders and young men because each promised to be accessible and responsible for one another’s journey as they move forward to do the work that will help save lives.
