DC Black Pride Reveal Party

This is where the DC Black Pride 2026 season starts. The night is relaxed, social, and intentional, with a speakeasy feel and a clear sense that something new is coming. It is an early look at the direction of the year, without over-explaining it.

We will officially reveal the DC Black Pride 2026 theme, share the Opening Reception headliner, and preview key events planned for Memorial Day Weekend. The focus is on what is being shaped next and how the season builds forward, grounded in culture, creativity, and community.

Live performances by Sherri Amour and Keith Angelo, music by DJ Big Sexy, and hosting by Anthony Oakes set the tone. Whether this is your first DC Black Pride or you have been part of it for years, the night is about being in the room, connecting with people, and getting a first look at what is ahead.

Black Facts: Inoculating Black Voters from Anti-LGBTQ+ Attacks

One week before the 2022 mid-term election, the opponents of LGBTQ+ equality spent over $50 million in anti-LGBTQ+ radio, TV, digital, and mail ads intended to leverage perceived homophobia and transphobia in the Black community as a tactic to persuade Black voters to support their candidates and causes. Black LGBTQ+/same-gender loving leaders of national LGBTQ+ equality organizations commissioned HIT Strategies to produce a first-of-its-kind study of Black voter values, policy priorities, and attitudes toward the Black LGBTQ+/SGL community to inform and shape resources to inoculate Black voters less familiar with the LGBTQ+ community from the harmful messages employed in the last election. The study's results provide a roadmap to guide civic engagement and democracy-related organizations in their work to turn out the Black vote in the general election this year. NBJC's Director of Public Policy and Programs, Victoria Kirby York, has been invited to provide a nonpartisan discussion of the report's findings. We hope you will join us!
