In Memoriam: Henry van Ameringen

The Center for Black Equity (CBE) joins the LGBTQ+ community in mourning the passing of Henry van Ameringen on September. 9, 2020 in his home in New York City. He was a generous supporter of the CBE as well other LGBTQ+ equality and HIV/AIDS organizations for many years. Van Amerigen began funding LGBTQ+ causes in 1987 in response to the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, and he was one of the first donors to support LGBTQ +equality and HIV/AIDS work in any significant way according to the Windy City Times. His philanthropic support of the CBE and many other LGBTQ+ organizations has helped to make a positive impact in the fight for full equality and ending the AIDS/HIVS pandemic. His generosity, encouragement and inspiration will be missed by many.
